India Wildlife TourRanthambhore National Park Ranthambore National Park is one of the most famous and largest national parks in northern India, situated in Sawai Madhopur disrict of Rajasthan. Ranthambore was established by Government of India in 1955 as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary and became a Nation Park in 1980. Ranthambore was declared one of the Tiger project reserves in 1973. The park covers an area of 392km² and lies at the edge of a plateau bounded to the north by Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. The other two Sanctuaries named as Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary, which are adjacent to this park are included to enlarge Ranthambore. Rathambore is famous for its huge population of tigers. The other major animals which can be found in Rathambore park include the tiger, leapord, nilgai, dhole, wild pig samber and chital. This park is also a a home for the wide varieties of tree, plants, birds and reptiles. Visitors also come here to have a glance of largest Banyan trees in India. Best time to Visit. Best season to visit this place is between November to February in winters. Tourists can also visit this place during summers from March to June. This park is closed during monsoon season. Reaching Rathambore: The nearest town and railway station is Sawai Madhopur at a distance of 11 km. The nearest airport is at Jaipur about 130 km away. Nearby PlacesRathambore Fort: Rathambore Fort, a historical fort of Rajasthan is situated near the national park. Inside this fort there are three temples dedicated to Ganesha, Shiva and Ramlalaji constructed in 12th and 13th century.Jogi Mahal: Jogi mahal is one of the most popular tourist destinations. Your trip is incomplete if you miss paying visit to this mahal. This mahal is located in the core of the forest and is close to Padam Talab, the largest lake in Rathambore National Park. Safaris: Personal vehicles are not used inside the park. Vehicles used for moving inside the forest are Jeep (6 seater) and Canter (20 seater).
