Agra Fort

The Agra Fort is an impressive structure and positioned at less than 2 kilometres from the Taj Mahal. The Fort is on the same river bank of Yamuna.

The glory days of Agra were realized during the reign of Humayun's son, Akbar the Great. For the period of his supremacy, the major part of the Agra fort was built with the construction kicked-off in 1156 and got finished in 1605. A great number building inside the fortress were erected under the supervision of Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal.

The Agra Fort has been built at the side of the Yamuna River and elongates to cover almost 2.5 km. The structure comprises a wall built in red sandstone and quite a few buildings inside. The wall relishes its both the two gates, the Delhi Gate and the Amar Singh Gate, and the entry to the fort can only be made via the Amar Singh Gate.
