Imposing edifices and architectural wonders; vibrant festivals; rustic, yet picturesque villages; floating palaces and exotic lotus ponds; art galleries to steal your attention; golden forts in the backdrop of shimmering sand dunes and swaying camels - that let your imagination fly to the days of the Arabian Nights; and Havelis, decorated with intricate designs that quicken the senses. These and much more await you on a royal visit into the past. Day 1 Arrive Delhi Arrive New Delhi International Airport by flight. Meeting at airport & transfer to hotel. (Note: Check-in & check-out at hotels in India is 12:00 Noon.) During the afternoon, at around 14:30 Hrs., take a half day tour of Old Delhi. Visit Raj Ghat (the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi), the Jama Masjid (the biggest Mosque in India), Chandni Chowk (the shopping centre of Old Delhi) and drive past Red Fort. Return to your hotel for an overnight. Day 2 Delhi Partake of an impressive breakfast and proceed on a morning tour of New Delhi visiting India Gate, the Lakshminarayan Temple and Qutab Minar. Drive past the President's House, Parliament House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place. The rest of the day is at leisure. Return to your hotel for an overnight. Day 3 Delhi - Agra 07:00 Hrs., drive to Agra (205 kms., 5 hours.) On arrival, at around 12:00 hrs. check in hotel. Later, at around 14:00 Hrs., visit the world famous Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and Dayal Bagh Mandir. Return to hotel for an overnight. Day 4 Agra - Jaipur After breakfast, at around 07:00 Hrs., drive to Jaipur (240 kms., 6 Hrs.) visiting the historical, but remarkably well-preserved, deserted Mughal-era city of Fatehpur Sikri, enroute. Continue on the drive to Jaipur and check-in at your hotel. At around 14:30 Hrs., proceed on a tour of Jaipur city, visiting Jantar Mantar - the Astronomical Observatory built in 1728 by the then ruler and founder of Jaipur – Maharaja Jai Singh II. Also visit the City Palace - which is currently home to the erstwhile Royal Family of Jaipur - and the Ram Niwas Gardens. Drive past Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds) and through the pink and rose-coloured residential quarters & business district of Jaipur. Day 5 Jaipur After a relaxed breakfast, drive to the outskirts of Jaipur to visit the rugged, 8th century Amber Fort, the former ancient Capital of the State, perched on a hilltop. Ride an elephant to the top of the hill and enter the fort. Visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory that is bedecked with glittering mirrors on the inside. Later in the afternoon, take and exciting shopping tour through the quaint lanes, bye-lanes and localities of Jaipur that are steeped in history. Day 6 Jaipur - Pushkar Immediately after breakfast, at around 07:00 Hrs., drive to Ajmer (112 Kms., 3 Hrs.) In Ajmer visit the Tomb of the Sufi Saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, at the Dargah Sharif. Afterwards, drive another 11 Kms., to the sleepy little village of Pushkar and check-in at your hotel. Later, visit the Sacred Lake and the Brahma Temple, which is credited with being the only one of its kind in the world. Return to your hotel for an overnight. Day 7 Pushkar - Udaipur 07:00 Hrs., after an early breakfast, begin the long drive to Udaipur (270 Kms., 6 Hrs.) Check-in at your hotel. After a brief rest, take an afternoon shopping tour around the city. Day 8 Udaipur A leisurely breakfast is a fitting start to a memorable day. Visit the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Sahelion ki bari and the Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir, amongst others and drive around Fatehsagar Lake. Afternoon is free for independent activities. Day 9 Udaipur - Jodhpur Partake of a hearty breakfast and at around 07:00 Hrs., drive to Jodhpur (332 kms., 7 Hrs.} visiting the famous Ranakpur Jain Temples, enroute. Check-in at hotel and evening free. Overnight at hotel. Day 10 Jodhpur - Jaisalmer Early breakfast. Later, morning visit to the Meharangarh Fort including Moti-Mahal, Phool Mahal, Jaswant Thada and the Museum. Around midday, drive to Jaisalmer (330 kms., 7 Hrs.) visiting the Osian Temples enroute. Check-in at your hotel for the night. Day 11 Jaisalmer Take a leisurely breakfast and proceed on a morning tour of Jaisalmer to view the traditional Havelis or mansions. People still live in these ancient buildings dating from 12th to 15th century. The Havelis have exquisite carvings and fine filigree work done on the walls. Later, during the afternoon, visit the Sam Sand Dunes to view a spectacular desert sunset. Day 12 Jaisalmer - Bikaner 07:00 Hrs., Immediately after breakfast, drive to Bikaner (363 Kms., 7 Hrs.) and check-in at your hotel. During the afternoon, visit the imposing 16th Century Fort and the colorful bazaars of Bikaner. Day 13 Bikaner – Shekhavati (Mandawa) 08:00 Hrs., after a leisurely breakfast, drive to the picturesque village of Mandawa, located in the Shekhavati region of Eastern Rajasthan, famous for its painted Havelis (180 Kms. 4 Hrs.) Day 14 Mandawa – Delhi Immediately after breakfast, at around 07:00 Hrs., drive back to Delhi (230 Kms., 6 Hrs.) and check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day is free for last minute shopping, relaxing by the pool or just plain browsing through the colourful bazaars of the city. Overnight is at the hotel.
