Rishikesh

Rishikesh is a popular tourist site in the Indian state of Uttaranchal and encircled by the picturesque splendour of the hills on three sides and Holy Ganga flowing through it. Situated right in the laps of lower Himalayas, Rishikesh is rated as the entry place for Badrinath - Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, three other pilgrim places. Shri Tryambakeshwar Temple

Triveni Ghat
Triveni Ghat is a meeting point of three holy and significant Rivers of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswathy, and a most revered sacred bathing spot in Rishikesh.

Getting to Rishikesh is an easy task as the city is well-connected with few major Indian cities by the appropriate mode of transportation.

Air: Air does not form the favoured mode of transport for reaching to Rishikesh, though the Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun is the nearest one to avail air service.

Rail: Rishikesh maintains a fine connectivity with all the major towns and cities of India by the rail modes.

Road: Rishikesh is a well-connected town having a fine network of roads to all major towns of Uttaranchal and surrounding areas.

Shopping

Rishikesh is basically a pilgrimage place and expecting the allure of big shop bargains might be a mirage here. Even then the city does have some good shopping spots and local items that take travellers by surprise. The city presents a fine array of handicraft items to its travellers that are made of shells, beads and pearls. Sarees, kurtas, sheets and rugs are other items that get sold in the markets here. Travellers mostly shop the items of their choice from the government approved handloom shop, Khadi Bhandar, Garhwal wool and craft shop etc.
